Product Problem Summary

Product was not classified as medical device, limiting design solutions.

New design solutions could not significantly alter existing medical processes, to reduce mental load.

Product was expected to support 1400% more patients than with Lemonaid’s EMR.

Shifting priorities led to this project requiring polished deliveries vs. an iterative approach.

Designing Through Change

Between team re-orgs and business strategy pivots, Clinical Portal—our in-house EMR— faced numerous challenges over its 3-year lifetime.

Product Outcome Summary

Challenging Conventional Wisdom

The creation of a new EMR gave us many opportunities to re-invent existing medical processes, resulting in numerous efficiency increases for our entire medical team.

Automating clinician tasks led to over an 80% increase in efficiency across numerous workflows.

With fewer manual tasks, our providers were able to spend more time personalizing patient care.

Created a new design system for Internal Tools, optimizing design and ENG efficiency by over 100%.

After meeting our medical team’s needs, our users migrated and we sun-set the legacy EMR platform.
